Winery

The Rhone Rangers is a non-profit, 501 (c) (6), educational, organization dedicated to advancing the public’s knowledge of Rhone varietal wine grapes grown in America and the production and enjoyment of these wines, with emphasis on integration into our daily lives.

For a wine to qualify as a “Rhone Ranger” wine or Rhone Blend, it should contain at least 75% of the twenty-one traditional Rhone grape varieties as approved in the Cotes-du-Rhone. As of April, 2002, Petite Sirah (Durif) also qualifies as an approved Rhone Ranger varietal. This designation reflects an understanding within the organization, and does not appear on the label; label content must be in compliance with the rules of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (BATF).

Winery membership dues are $600 per year and include participation in one event per year: San Francisco, Los Angeles or Seattle.  Wineries choosing to participate in more than one event, will be charged $400 for each additional event.

As an active winery member, you are entitled to the following:

1. Voting privileges and the opportunity to get involved by attending annual meetings of the organization. Information about and from each meeting is sent to members.
2. Opportunity to participate in the annual San Francisco, Los Angeles or Seattle Tasting, as well as other public tastings and events.
3. Access to promoting events to our consumer (Sidekick) members and the attendee lists of public events.
4. Winery name and information listed on the Rhone Ranger web site with a link to your site, if applicable, and on published information such as press kits.
5. Opportunity to bring Associate and Sidekick members to your winery through participation in Regional Rhone Ranger activities and through special offers to Sidekick members who visit your winery and show their current membership card.
6. Member e-newsletter, the SILVER BULLETin.  Members are encouraged to submit ideas for articles to share with the other members.
