The members of the Paso Robles Chapter of the Rhone Rangers invite you to the

2009 Paso Robles Rhone Rangers Experience
Sunday, February 15th, 2009
Seminar and Luncheon 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM
Walk-Around Tasting and Silent Auction 1:30 AM to 3:30 PM

Join the 30+ members of the Paso Robles Chapter of the Rhone Rangers for a day in Paso Robles Wine Country with some of America’s leading producers of Rhone varietals as we explore what makes Paso Robles so ideal for these great grapes and wines. This fun-filled and information-rich day included:

  • "Rhone Essentials" Seminar – Brian Clark, the host of Grape Radio, will lead participants in a tasting of the most important categories of Rhone wines, including Viognier, Roussanne, white Rhone blends, dry Rose, Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre and red Rhone blends.  At each stage hear from winemakers and principals who have chosen the Rhone Ranger route in Paso Robles, and who are forging the area's reputation as the "Rhone Zone".  Update 1/20/2009: the wines and presenters for the seminar have been finalized.  They are:
    • Adelaida Cellars 2007 Viognier (Terry Culton, Winemaker)
    • Anglim 2006 Roussanne (Steve Anglim, Winemaker/Owner)
    • Calcareous 2007 Viognier/Marsanne (Damian Grindley, Winemaker)
    • Halter Ranch 2008 Rose (Bill Sheffer, Winemaker)
    • Terry Hoage 2006 "Skins" Grenache (Terry Hoage, Winemaker/Owner)
    • Villa Creek 2006 "Vulture's Post" Mourvedre (Cris Cherry, Winemaker/Owner)
    • Austin Hope 2005 Syrah (Austin Hope, Winemaker/Owner)
    • Edward Sellers 2006 "Cuvee des Cinq" (Amy Butler, Winemaker)
  • Vintners' Lunch – Seminar participants will be joined by Rhone Rangers principals and winemakers for a banquet lunch prepared by Executive Chef Jeffrey Scott, with members' Rhone wines passing freely around the tables and extended opportunity for interaction with the producers.
  • Walk-around Tasting – Taste wines from the complete membership of the Paso Robles Rhone Rangers, including top single Rhone varietals and the best in Rhone blends.
  • Silent Auction - During the walk-around tasting, bid on lots donated by Rhone Rangers member wineries and help support the Rhone Rangers scholarship fund!  To view the auction lots, click here.

The day's events will again take place at Robert Hall Winery, just east of Paso Robles on Highway 46.  Participation to the seminar and lunch will be limited to the first 100 RSVPs, and the walk-around to 250 attendees. Both events sold out well in advance of the event last year and we encourage anyone interested in attending to sign up early this year.

Tickets to attend the seminar and lunch are just $75, and participants will free entry into the walk-around tasting.  Consumers who wish to attend just the walk-around tasting may do so for $25.  The walk-around tasting is free to qualified trade and media (advance registration is required).  Both the Seminar/Lunch and Tasting/Auction portions of this event are full.  You may contact Robert Hall Winery if you wish to add yourself to the waiting list at 805-239-1616 x24.
